IRF's awareness initiative will be extended for organ donation also, where general public would be given a basic understanding about organ donation, its benefits to others and no risk to self. The organ donation campaign will culminate ultimately when a person signs a donor card. This will mean that he has pledged his kidney, on his death. This database will also help in identifying the right recipient of the donor kidney, country wide. IRF will collaborate with various transplant centres in the country to form a national grid for organ donation. No kidney will be wasted once harvested. This also means that the wait for a kidney failure patient will be less than ever before. IRF will put up a 24 hours organ transplant co-ordination cell, which will co-ordiante between the kidney donor and the receipient. This will solve the issue of criticality of time between the removal of kidneys from the donor and the transplantation into a recipient. |
