In a survey conducted by IRF in one group of educated employed/working class people with an income of more than Rs. 1.2 lakhs/annum, awareness about the seriousness of kidney disease and kidney failure was as low as 7.2% : far less than that for cancer and heart attack problems. This lack of awareness keeps people from taking preventive steps and seeking timely and adequate treatment in the case of kidney disease.
